Nikki McKay’s Studio

Artist’s studios are so inspiring so when I saw that Newark artist Nikki McKay had an Open Day yesterday I went along.                         Nikki McKay in her studio                             Nikki’s daughter, iphone 7 stand up case Barley, and her granddaughter Daisy guarding the nibbles! Behind them are some of Nikki’s larger pieces of art.                             Nikki is renowned for her portraits of rotund women in bold and vibrant colours, matte black phone case iphone 7 often dancing without inhibition. valentino rossi iphone 7 plus case A bit like me in the afternoons when nobody’s looking!                             Tools of the trade: a pot of paintbrushes                           Nikki’s notice board is a work of art in itself                             A similar photograph to the third one down but it has a better shot of one of my favourite paintings (in the top left-hand side) ‘Listening to Handel’ Nikki told me she draws much of her inspiration from listening to music (classical and jazz) and from observing movement of the body when she’s teaching dance.                           Every corner of the studio was filled with these striking paintings.
