I had what turned out to be my last school visit of the term on Tuesday. I visited Westglade Primary’s cool Class 5 to find out what they’d been up to in their Premier League Reading Stars Challenge then hopped across the road to meet the smashing Y8s at Top Valley Academy to find out how they’d been getting on in theirs. The final session was a Football Book Quiz with a mash up of teams from both schools. I’m not saying it was noisy but I lost my voice afterwards! Well done to the Red Stars who romped home as the victors; I hope you enjoyed your chocolate footballs.
Since Tuesday I’ve had laryngitis and a chesty cough so I’ve had to pull out of the Suffolk School Libraries’ Mastermind Book Quiz Final tomorrow. I’m gutted because I was really looking forward to it but it’s impossible giving a talk if you can’t talk or, worse still, if you’re spreading bugs everywhere. Good luck to everyone; I’ll be thinking of you as I croak my way through the day. Buy all Anthony McGowan’s books, won’t you? He deserves it for going solo.
