Highfield Priory, Fulwood, Lancashire

I spent a super morning with pupils at Highfield Priory Independent School in Fulwood, near Preston, on Wednesday. The main school building is a rather imposing large Georgian/early Victorian house that once probably (I say probably because I can’t find a specific history so I’m guessing) belonged to one of the affluent industrialists in the area. It has been a school since the 1940s. tannc iphone 6 case My sessions took place in the gym behind the main building and I was immediately struck by what a sporty school Highfield Priory must be, judging by all the sports stars they’ve had visiting them. The children were delightful. I was especially impressed by the four brave souls who volunteered to tell a story off the top of their heads in front of everyone. Aditya, whose story involved finding many useful tools in his pockets, won the ‘Storyteller’s Gold.’ highfield                     Loving the arrow above my head. beauty and the beast iphone 6 hard case Brain cells heading left…   Y5 and Y6 bowled me over with the variety of authors they liked reading. dinosaur iphone 7 phone cases Here’s the list someone kindly jotted down for me: Eion Colfer Caroline Lawrence Anthony Horowitz Enid Blyton Suzanne Collins William Nicholson Louis Sachar Tom Palmer Alan Temperley Gillian Cross Cathy Cassidy Alan Gibbons Malorie Blackman Chris Ryan Philip Pullman James Dashner Joan Aitken What made my day was one of the teachers telling me that my Girls FC books had got his reluctant reader girls into reading. That’s such an accolade. ted baker iphone 7 case with mirror Apparently my books don’t stay in the library long as they are borrowed all the time. We all thoroughly enjoyed your visit to Highfield Priory School! You are a very entertaining and inspiring author and the children were still talking about you on Friday! Needless to say, many of them have their heads stuck into your books now! Thank you once again!
