Starring Brody as the girls from the States (who's in a bit of a state herself!) - click to view further details or order online What's it about?

Everyone knows Brody Miller at ZAPS After School Club. She's famous for a start! Her mum was a supermodel and her dad is a famous photographer and they live in that massive house with a swimming pool. Not that Brody boasts about her wealth - just the opposite in fact - Brody is popular with everyone because she is warm, kind and generous. Things go wrong when her niece Jolene comes to stay. Jolene is looking for trouble and seems set on spoiling everything.

Where did you get the idea from?

I wanted to create a character who has had life fairly easy so far but something comes along to test them. I also liked the theme of divided loyalties - in the story, Brody adores her dad but Jolene's arrival makes her realize he's not as perfect as she thought he was. Another theme is 'first love.' When I was a teacher and we had the end of term discos for pupils, I was always intrigued by how some of the Year Sixes would 'team up' with a partner. More often than not, the girls would tower above the boys and it made for an ungainly, if touching, scene. That's what I wanted for Reggie and Brody.
